What is expected of members?
- Agreement of the codes of conduct
- Agree to the work within the bounds of the mission/vision statements
- Volunteer in some capacity, whether that is labor, donations, or digital help (clerical admin, art, ect)
- You do not have to be a member to receive produce donations from the project, you do have to be a member to receive labor help and members get first dibs on harvests
How do members provide feedback or suggestions?
- The “Rule of Twos” will help you know which form to use
- If an idea will take two or fewer days AND two or fewer people to implement, please use this form.
- If an idea will take more than two days OR more than two people to implement, we’d consider it a Proposal! Please use this more detailed submission.
What happens if land owners revoked access before harvest?
- There’s an element of risk when creating gardens on owned land. We are going to carefully vet our landowners wanting to do a semi-open or open format to be sure they understand the risks inherent to allowing people to come onto their land. If someone decides to pull from the project/prohibit the project from accessing the harvest, that garden is no longer part of the project. It would really suck and it would be a total loss. But as a community we will overcome, heal the wound and continue on. The more people we have the less it will hurt.
What happens if tenders stop showing up?
Do those tenders still get a share?
- We investigate why and see if it’s something we can help with. If they need support we support, if they need to step away we find a new tender. If they ghost we try to reach them. If no contact can be made we replace. (Unless it’s ghosting, yes if they put in work they get to share)
What happens if we put up long term infrastructure on private land and after a season they choose to stop participating in the project?
- It is not likely we will put any permanent or major infrastructure in due to not being funded. If we did it would likely be in public gardens so the garden project would “own” those spaces.
- If we grow big enough to be able to do that on a non public land basis we would have to have written agreements. In the meantime if we utilize free resources for the semi open and self operated ones then we are only losing out on labor. It would suck, but I wouldn’t want the potential for someone to be a jackass the reason to not do something that could benefit everyone. There has to be both a level of discretion by us on the candidates we choose and a level of trust that people are here with good intentions and care for the community.
